About Craig (They/Them)

Craig has been all over the place.

Raised in the vibrant Tasmania art scene, Craig cut their teeth in cutting edge, avant-garde opera, before getting their Music Theatre Voice degree and spending the next 20 years professionally freelancing all over the industry, and up and down the eastern seaboard. They've taught in schools, private, public, and extra-curricular, flown all over the country writing operas with teens, as well as Musically Directed countless shows and ensembles, premiering original works, and dabbling in all sorts of other performance shenanigans along the way.

Craig has recently relocated to Melbourne from Port Macquarie, NSW, where they had conducted and led the three biggest choirs in the region, as well as various other vocal and instrumental ensembles. Renowned for their energetic, entertaining, and uplifting leadership, they're very excited to start making music and connections in their new home!

Frequently asked questions

Can anyone join?

Anyone is welcome! A bit of singing experience is always beneficial, but absolutely not essential, so come and jump in with us.

Do I need to read music?

Absolutely not! Music reading can be a very useful skill, but it's just one way of accessing the notes. We use sheet music in rehearsal, but the songs are taught aurally as well, so knowledge of the scribbles is not a pre-requisite.

What do we sing?

We aim for a broad range of styles, genres, and vibes. Popular song, folk, rounds, jazz, the occasional dip into a bit of classical. As long as it makes us feel good to sing together, and makes us smile, that's the baseline for our repertoire.

What if I can't attend every week?

Life happens, and priorities change from day-to-day, and the world never stops spinning. The Song Circle is set up to cater for those weekly changing priorities. If you can make it every week, that is of course, amazing, but you won't be left behind if you miss a week. And if you can only come every now and again, then there'll still be joyous singing to be had.

How do I pay?

So you pay when you attend, no invoicing or term payments here. Cash is preferred, but card payments are available.
